QUIZ: Sleep Facts and Fallacies
Answer to Question 1 of 8

Wrong, the correct answer is:

The safest position in which to put an infant to sleep is...

On her back, to prevent SIDS.

On her front, to prevent flattening of the head.

On her side, to stop SIDS and head flattening.

It doesn't matter; all positions are equal.

This is really important: Since doctors started telling parents ""BACK to SLEEP,"" the rate of SIDS has fallen sharply. On the back is clearly the safest sleep position. During her waking hours, however, make sure that your infant has plenty of time on her stomach to strengthen her arms and prevent head flattening. Side sleeping is not as safe, since babies often roll onto their tummies.
