My baby, who is three months old, cries every time I put him down. I try to hold him as much as I can when we play or read or just talk, but there are times that I need to get other things done, like laundry or dinner. What should I do?
Dear Kathynell,
First and foremost, you should realize that your son will not be harmed by occasionally being put down, even if he fusses. The fact that you play, read, hold, and talk to your son makes me think that he is by no means starved for attention!
At the same time, it is important that you take care of yourself. I find that many babies who cry when first put down are more than happy to sit in an infant seat after just a few minutes of protest, perhaps watching their parents as they go about their chores. Sometimes...
