Debra W. Haffner, M.P.H., F.S.A.M.

Debra W. Haffner, M.P.H., F.S.A.M., is a sexuality education expert and past-president and CEO of the Sexuality, Information, and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS). During her tenure with SEICUS, she created the National Coalition to Support Sexuality Education, the Commission on Adolescent Sexual Health, and developed the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Kindergarten - Grade Twelve. Ms. Haffner has written several books, articles, and pamphlets on children and healthy sexuality. Her two latest books include From Diapers to Dating: A Parent's Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Children published in May 1999 and Beyond the Big Talk: Every Parent's Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Teens - from Middle School to College published in June 2001.

Ms. Haffner earned her master's degree in public health from the Yale School of Medicine. She has 25 years' experience educating parents on how to talk about tough issues with their children and has been honored by numerous national health organizations and medical centers. She is currently a seminarian at Union Theological Seminary and a candidate for the ordained ministry.
