Two Children with Fertility Drugs, Now Pregnant Without
QUESTION
Dear Dr. Greenfield,
If a man had the mumps and was told he had a low sperm count could he end up fathering a child without the use of fertility drugs? Is it actually a temporary condition?

I have had two children with fertility drugs. Is it possible for my body to become pregnant later without? I believe I am pregnant now without fertility meds. I feel pregnant tested positive on two home tests?

Dear Twokids,
Well, this is a surprising turn of events, isn't it? I think you are an example of how infertility is really sub-fertility in most cases, and there is some chance for pregnancy without treatment. Unless there are no sperm at all, you can't rely on a low sperm count to prevent pregnancy. And many women with ovulation problems do ovulate on occasion, as you now can see.

So, since you feel pregnant, and the home tests tell you that you are pregnant, I think it is time to adjust to the fact that in less than nine months, it will be time to change your signature to threekids. Take care--and good luck to you!
