Cradle Cap and Hair Loss
QUESTION
Dear Dr. Needlman,
My four-month-old baby had a bad case of cradle cap. Now that it's finally gone, all his hair is gone, as well. Is it going to grow back? How long will that take? Thank you!

Dear Mamma,
Your baby's hair will certainly grow back. Cradle cap is a condition that affects the surface of the skin, and does not harm the hair follicles. However, it may take a long time. While some babies have hair that grows very quickly, others have slow-growing hair for the first year or two. As older children, they look just the same as the children who had full heads of hair from day one.
