Tips For Successful Breastfeeding
QUESTION
Do you have any tips for successful breastfeeding?

— Russ in San Jose, California

It is great to get this kind of a question from a dad, since fathers can play a very large role in the breastfeeding process. I find that the more parents (fathers included) know about breastfeeding, the more likely it is that breastfeeding will be both a successful and rewarding experience. Learning the basics of what to expect, some of the how-to's of breastfeeding, as well as the practical aspects (and tips) will serve you well.

Breastfeeding is very natural, but it is also a skill that develops over time. Every breastfeeding experience is different. This means that, aside from the basics, the advice and tips you get should be specific to your family's particular questions. We have a lot of useful information on breast feeding here at drspock.com You can also get good advice from other sources such as The La Leche League.
