Counseling is okay if it is available and you can afford it. And as long as the counselor is someone that your son can trust. But I don't think it's totally necessary. I would suggest that you do not have your son play with this boy anymore. It seems to me that this activity is not exactly age appropriate. Tell your son that you love him and that you think he is a good kid. Chances are that if the other boy made him feel uncomfortable then he won't object to not playing with him. However if it is a problem for your son to "lose his friend" you can have him over to your house to play with the doors open and supervised. It is a rule in our house that the door stays open when there are 2 or more kids in a room and no one goes to the bathroom together or changes together. If you put these kinds of rules together with things like not jumping on the bed or wearing a helmet while they ride thier bikes the kids don't usually object and it becames a learned behavior. Besides they can always put the "uncoolness" off on you as the parent because it is your rule and this way they don't have to be uncomfortable.
