While I don't believe that masturbation in 5-year-olds is dangerous or wrong this case does worry me a little. The pressure of the water comming out in the pool may not be dangerous, but the water comming out of the "jets" in a hot tub can be seriously harmful. I knew once of a little girl who liked to put her ear in front of the jet in the hot tub until she damaged her ear drum. Again I don't think that the pressure in the pool is nearly as great, though it might be a bad habit to start. I would suggest that you encourage you daughter to stop doing this but explain to her that she isn't being bad but that you worry that it isn't the best way to get the "little tickle". I suppose that I could tell you that you should suggest an alternative, but I'm not sure that you will be comfortable doing this and honestly I am at a loss as to what alternative to suggest!
