Hi

Our son's ped said that 20 lbs. and 1 year is the minimum. According to our son's ped, some recent studies have shown that if you turn toddlers around too early, they can injure their spinal chord and neck if you get into an accident. Toddlers neck muscles aren't completely developed until age 2. We waited until our son was 15 months and 22 1/2 lbs. Our son is also pretty tall--at 16 months he is 32 1/2 inches. His feet were scrunched against the backseat. We just thought he looked very uncomfortable. Hope this helps.
