 | Hi! I ended up not keeping my baby on the Nutramigen (she is almost 10 mos now) - she's currently on lactose-free formula. I've never been sure whether she has a mild case of "silent reflux" or not. It seems as if, and my pedi agrees, she just has a difficult temperament, and has had a hard time with teething - I think that's been more of her problem than anything. She started teething and drooling when she was only a few weeks old, and cut her first teeth before 4 mos. It takes her a LONG TIME to cut a tooth, and we all suffer with her :) (Poor baby - she has 8 teeth already.)
How long has your baby been on Nutramigen? From what I learned, many babies have watery stools on the Nutramigen at first, and given time, it becomes more normal after the first couple of weeks or so. Under the formula feeding board, I've found a few helpful posts on the subject (look for both Nutramigen and Alimentum posts)! Sounds like you're on the right track if your baby is not vomiting anymore. Does he seem more comfortable?
At one point, I mixed Nutramigen and Isomil together (half and half) at my Drs advice. It got the milk out of her diet, and also normalized her bowel movements (Isomil alone caused her to be terribly constipated). Of course, if your baby is sensitive to soy as well as milk, this is not an option.
Good luck! |
