As a kid, I remember all the ugly, viscious, mean, stupid and socially condoned violence that was given to us 3 kids by our parents, teachers and some other cowardly adult bullies. The abuse and humiliations we were forced to suffer have had long term consequences for us 3 kids which is why I am so against spanking, paddling, etc. when other means of "discipline" will work better...even if it's not as satisfying and thrilling to the adult "beaters". But all the aguements in the world against violence to children won't mean anything to a person bent on getting their kicks from hurting someone to little to hit back, while telling themself all the while that brutality is "good for you" or whatever delusional excuse dignifies the abuser's insanity. It's actually a hopeless issue but, to those of us that didn't "turn out ok" from physical/mental abuse/torture, it's still worth screaming about......even if only one parent/caregiver wakes up to their maliscious insanity and takes a different approach.
