Just as you were told, it's my understanding that in order for the pills to be as effective as possible, you need to take them as prescribed - that is every day, at the same time. They would not tell you to do that if it didn't matter.

I suggest seeing your doctor to talk about getting on a birth control that will work for you, as the pill may not be the best choice. In the mean time USE BACK-UP BIRTH CONTROL because it is very likely you are not currently protected.
