SUBJECT: HELP--my 3 yr old cries at 4am everyday!!
My ds was a good sleeper until he turned 2 and it has been downhill since then. He just turned 3 so my patience is definately wearing thin.

We have had a multitude of sleep problems (too cold in the house, ear infections, molars, nightmares, new baby, daycare, etc.) and then some where I have absolutely no clue as to what is wrong.

He no longer naps and for the past 2 months had been doing pretty good with sleep. He was sleeping 12 hours a night no problems. I was finally starting to feel normal again after no sleep for 9 months (ds plus new baby).

Ds goes to daycare 2 days a week while I work and the very day they moved him up to the 3 year old room he started night waking AGAIN. Coincidence? I don't know.

He goes to sleep great. But then around 4am (sometimes sooner) he starts crying out. Most night I ignore it and he goes back to sleep on his own but then I am up. Grrrrrrrr....

However some times I have to go in there and just say "shhhh its ok go back to sleep" and he's fine. He doesn't want to get up as he almost growls at me to leave him alone in the middle of the night.

His cries sound like he's uncomfortable (like can't breathe--snores, or has woken up and is ticked about it, or just plain can't sleep).

He is still in the crib and I am wondering if maybe he is uncomfortable. I am just at a loss and sick to death of sleep problems. I've got to work and am surviving on a few hours of sleep is SO hard.

Any thoughts as to what to do?

Karen
