Your stepson doesn't have ADHA or BiPolar. Both of those classifications are consistant with Chemical imbalances, I feel he has abandonment/intimacy issues. I think he is resentful of your addition in the family, I wouldn't waste money medicating him. perhaps Nick wasn't ready for the both of you to be married or to engage in a serious relationship. Where is his Mother? and how did she leave. this might add a little insight to the purpose of his resentment. Something you said in your description caught my attention, "He has a temper so scary I don't want him in my house anymore!" I think he feels that you are intrding is his home and if you voice that it is your home, I would see where his behavior might stem from. let him feel that it is "OUR" home, do special things with just you and him on a very regular basis, like going to lunch on Saterday afternoon, this works best if you make it routine(certain day every week) But it is important to do something he enjoys, otherwise it becomes a hinderance. That way he has something to look forward to. Give him a sence of security by being consistant. That is something he probably lacks due to his mothers non-presence...best of luck
