My doctor could feel my son's head at 36 weeks as well, but I was not dialated. At my 37 week visit I was dialated to a 2 and 70% effaced. He said that when you can feel the babies head it is always a good thing though, because a) the baby is head down, and b) he is probably moving down and preparing to engage. Hope this helps.
