This brings up another question. This may seem stupid, but I am a first time mom. How do you let a 13 month old practice with a spoon? If I put it in his hand, he chews on it without dipping it into the bowl. I've tried to help him get a spoonful of cereal out of the bowl...but that has not been real successful, although it does seem better than letting him do it on his own.

Should I just put the spoon and a bowl of food in front of him and let him have at it?
