SUBJECT: Writing lines
My sixteen year old daughter was caught chewing gum at school and given 500 lines to write. It took her all weekend to write them and I've never seen her so subdued. Talk about an attitude adjuster! I thought she would have finished them in a few hours but because she had answered back the teacher gave her a really long line. I know the teacher concerned and she's not one to upset. I used to hate getting lines at school but must admit they were pretty effective. I'm tempted to start giving my daughter lines at home as well as grounding her. Do any other parents use writing punishment? Speaking to my daughter's friends its seems to be often used in school but only a few said they had been given lines or essays at home.
