 | I'm not even sure that I'm in the right place. We are having some discipline issues with my four year old boy and I have been visiting the discipline board for about 2 weeks now and what I have seen in that short time has shocked me. I know the spanking vs. no spanking debate is a hot topic but what is going on there is horrible. There are people who are there just to satisfy their fetishes and there are others who, well, I'm not sure what they are doing. People there claim to beat their children with hairbrushes and footwear and they brag about the bruises they leave. There are other people that are so interested in this that they actually ask questions about the bruises. I am just shocked that these actually make it to text. I think that someone should be monitoring these "hot topics". Alot of what I read there is considered child abuse in alot of states. Some of it is so off the wall, that wierdos come there and feed off of it. I know there are people out there who have the power to delete messages because we had a problem on the infant message board that finally disappeared, thank goodness. I am just voicing my concern. There are messageboards and chat rooms for these types of people and I am just hoping that drSpock is not one of them. Men who spank their wives as a form of discipline, parents who spank their adult children (I mean 27 years old when I say adult!!), stepfathers pulling down a teenage girl's underwear to "give her what she deserves", these types of conversations DO NOT belong on a parenting messageboard. Am I wrong? You might tell me where to go after you read this but I know there are others out there who care about the future of the board like I do. It's a wonderful place to come with questions and I have rec'd alot of advice especially from your infant board. I thank you for providing parents with somewhere to come where we can get solid and sincere advice from parents who have been through it. I just feel there are parts of the board that need more attention than others and the discipline board is a big one. Thanks for your time. |
