SUBJECT: Parents Today Behave Like Fools
My husband and I have five children ranging from age 15 to 5. We have a simple policy when it comes to purchases in our house and what will or will not fly with hair, clothes, etc. It's called, while we pay the bills, we call the shots. The British have a saying, "begin as you intend to proceed." Parents begin with giving toddlers choices in McDonalds that hold up the line for twenty minutes while the toddler and parent try to decide on whether its the nuggets or the cheeseburger. We start a trend then that we are at the mercy of our children's whims. The kids know that baggy pants, pierced noses, anything that resembles Britney Spears is not welcome in our house. Period. They don't even try and we have a much more peaceful home as a result. We let them make as many decisions as they want to within perameters that are set by their parents. Kids are out of control because parents teach them to be out of control by their passivity and desire to be "liked" more than respected.
