son calls stepmom mom infront of real mom

Hi, I engaged to a women who has a 10 year old son. We have lived together for years. He ex-husband recently got married to his girlfiend of two years. My fiance's son immediately started calling his step mother mom, even infront of his real mom. My fiance is heart broken. It is clear he has been convinced by his father that this is appropriate. Her son also intends to call me dad when my Fiance and I get married. I know his father won't like this and won't accept it. They share joint custody and see their son an equal amount of time. What is appropriate in this situation? Please help.
