I had the same problem with my daughter, although the daycare took the initiative to approach the other family. It really is their responsibility to make sure your child is safe and happy while under their care. One day my daughter came home with a bloddy bite. I went back first thing in the morning, met with the director and told her that was unacceptable. She agreed and told me that apparently the biter had bitten other kids also. It has since come under control - offering the parents alternatives, etc. The daycare had the parents bring in things for the child to chew on , like teethers etc. It turns out the child was doing it because she was teething and also out of frustration (a common thing at this age). But really, you should be very up-front with the provider. I know the caregivers become like second family to your children, but they should also be taking full responsibility for everything that happens under their "watch". Good luck. Fortunately kids grow out of that stage!
