SUBJECT: Please Help Zoey Ride in the Special Olympics
Our daughter Zoey has run into a problem with the North Carolina Special Olympics. She was supposedly registered to ride in the state equestrian competition on July 5th and 6th but because the North Carolina Special Olympics county coordinator did not file the appropriate paperwork on time, she is being told she cannot ride since that is the organization’s policy. Since it was one of the Special Olympics people that made the mistake, we have asked that an exception be made but so far have been told that exceptions are never made.

Here is the link to the story in the News and Observer: http://news-observer.com/front/story/2653563p-2460605c.html There was also a new story on WRAL this past Friday.

We are asking people to call the North Carolina Special Olympics office and ask that Zoey be allowed to ride in the competition this coming weekend. We are hoping that if enough people call, the organization will change its mind and make the exception. The number to the North Carolina Special Olympics office is 919-719-7662 or 1-800-843-6276. Keith Fishburne is the president at extension 102. Hopefully if he receives enough calls he will understand that the competition is for the participants, and when errors like this are made, it is unfair to penalize the participant.

Thank you for calling and passing this along to anyone else that you believe would want to help Zoey!
