Need your opinion on Zantac for reflux...

My son was just diagnosed with severe reflux (9 1/2 months old and 14.6 pounds). They are doing an upper GI series in the next week or 2, but they want him on Zantac. Has anyone used it with their children? Did it work? Any side effects? etc. Any info or advice would be great!

****PS. Please note that a child does not have to vomit profusely to have reflux. I have mentioned time and time again that my son had reflux symptoms but since he rarely vomits, they said it was not reflux. He has suffered for almost 10 months too long because of that misconception!
