thank you for replying to my letter. my grandson is still sleeping with me.and that is ok I have come to a peace with it. I think that all children are individuals and have different needs and we have to try to understand what they may be experiencing. especially when they are unable to tell us. in my search for understanding I feel that if a child wants to sleep with you there is a reason. weather it's because his own bed is not roomey enough for him or because he is just having insecurities. if he feels safe in your bed then to me that is what's important. I do not believe that any child should have to cry to the point of sobbing in trying to get him to do what you want.I do not give up on trying to help him sleep in his own bed. I try everynight and sometimes he surprises me and sleeps in his crib for the whole night. and I wake up all night wondering if he is ok...lol so either way I lose sleep.I have noticed though that when he sleeps in the crib he is restless moving around a lot like he doesn't have enough space. he is too young to have a bed of his own. in my bed he sleeps against a wall so I don't have to worry about him rolling off. right now I am willing to sacrifize my sleep to have him close to me if that's what he wants because soon he will be returing to his parents and I will miss the closeness we have shared these last eight months.
and remember you are special, and the fact that your son wants to be close to you and feels safe with you makes you that much more special. children are a special jewel that God created they shouldn't have to feel full of fears and insecurities. so I say enjoy his youth for soon he will grow up and you will be wishing he was laying next to you safely sleeping. I will miss my Grandson when he is no longer there and that time is coming soon. so I am going to enjoy every minute i have left with him even if it means some sleepless nights...he is worth it....:-)
If you need someone to share with please feel free to contact me at ttsmema@aol.com. I have been a parent for almost 30 years and in the last 8 months I had to be a parent all over again so i have lots of experience...lol
take care and let God lead. he will help you through.
Tudie.
