HI! I'm the mommy of 4 children, with #5 due December 5, 2003. All have been c-sections thus far...
#1 failure to progress
#2 placenta previa
#3 I opted for a c-section after we lost baby's heartbeat in labor
#4 Gestational Diabetic, no chance for VBAC

When baby#4 was born, I was told it was a good thing that I didn't labor because my uterus was "paper thin". That was all I ever heard on the subject, and we opted to try for a 5th baby and succeeded.

My sister-in-law was just informed today (after being released from the birth of her 3rd living child, also 3rd c-section) that our OB (we have the same doctor) "strongly suggests that she not have anymore children" because of her thin uterus, plus the high blood pressure that has accompanied all 3 living children toward the end of the pregnancies.

So now I'm wondering what is the difference? Same OB, I'm gearing up for my 5th c-section, was told LAST time that I had a paper thin uterus, but no suggestions or even a mention about not having anymore children. Why was my sister-in-law given this "suggestion"?

Am I at a higher risk for uterine rupture because of my past history of 4 c-section, as well as my thin uterus? If so, what should I be cautious of? What restrictions should I do? I don't have another appt. with my doctor for a month, and I'm concerned, as I'm 16 weeks, nowhere near a viable age if something were to happen to my little peanut.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestion you could offer.. both to the danger we might be in, and also why such a discrepancy in our OB's advice.

Best wishes to everyone! =0)
