It is not too early at all. It's easier to train a kid before he reaches 2 than after. Don't forget that 2-3 year olds love to exert their control over others, and refusing to use the potty is one way. Do you really want to spend so much money on disposable diapers to keep him in diapers until he is 4 when you can save that money for his college or a family trip or your mortgage or something more important than overindulging him?
