SUBJECT: Need Help
Hello everyone I need advice. I am a mother of 4. My chilren are ages 15, 13, 4, 1. My 13 yearold son suffers from ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and conduct disorder. He was started on medication last year and now he is up to 4 different types of medications. Strattera for hyperactivity, Depakote for bipolar Disorder, Seroquel for psychotic behaviors and Wellbutrin for Depression. I have great concerns about him on all of this medication but the psychiatrist thinks its fine. He has very explosive behaviors at times. He lies, Fights constantly with peers, other students and his older brother. He is great with the younger children. He has been in detention 3 times in the last year for fighting and is currently on probation for fighting. He has no respect for authority figures and will curse police officers out. He currently attends a school for behavior disorder children which I believe has only helped him to learn new negative behaviors. I have tried everything from physical punishment, rewards, loss of priveledges, reasoning. He has also had counseling. Nothing works. Does anyone out there have similar problems or have any suggestions. I have thought about residential treatment but I am not ready to give up yet. Plus I know of people whom has went to residential treatment centers and it did not help them it seem to be a hold over place. I fear for my sons future.
