I agree. However, what are the options for those who feel forced by society itself (mainly school officials and other parents who think you're just a lousy parent because your child doesn't behave as well as theirs)? I have taken my child off medication for the summer and I can see a difference in his ability to control his impulses. I still do not feel comfortable with the side effects and possible ones that we have not seen yet. It takes years and years to find out the long term effects of medications especially powerful ones. I have noticed this: Though my son control control his impulses as well he has NOT had anymore tics and the tics stopped within a few days of being off medication. He no longer had it in his system. I would like to know how some dads deal with ADHD? My husband, I don't think understands ADHD as well as I do. After some time off medication, I see his blood pressure rising when my son can spin in circles and bounce off walls because "he's bored or it's fun". It's not because he gets irriated so easily. My son can do whatever he's doing for long periods of time and without reguard to it not being pleasing to everyone in the house. Any dad opinions or mom observations of dads? I'm interested in doctors and teachers opinions as parents. All parents, I am interested in your replies.
