14 mo old throws fits

My 14 mo old son can be a terror. He constantly is into everything. He has broken so many things. When I take something from him or tell him no, he will throw himself on the floor and cry. Its like he wants me to do something, he will lay on his back and cry then stop and roll over then cry more or kinds grunt and whine at the same time. Like he has an attitude. I usually try to ignore him. But I am not sure if Im doing the right thing. any suggestions.

P.s I have found that I am on my kids a lot more than other parents regarding manners, like instead of saying drink or get me a drink. I make my 4 yr old say can I have a drink please? Other parents I have seen dont seem to do that. Am I starting to young or is this stuff just not important anymore?
