SUBJECT: 5 year old mean to friends
My daughter is 5 1/2. I need help. She is very sweet and loving most of the time. SHe actually adores her friends and makes them things all the time. However, if she is feeling bad or doesn't get her way, she is downright mean. The kids next door are not allowed to play with her and I witnessed her just being mean to a girl at school this a.m., refusing to help her find a book that she knew the whereabouts of. She is nice at times but can be very "only childish" and mean at others. Since she IS an only child, I don't have a whole lot of oppty at home to teach her how to interact but I try when she is with friends. I am afraid I can't control what happens at school and am missing out on teaching opptys at her expense, there are more than 5 kids that I know just don't want to be around her. Please help. I am watching this sweet 5 year old build her own social demise and I fear what will happen thru the years.
