Remember you are dating dad, not the kid. Acknowledge the kids, stay informed of what goes on at school (most have websites now), know their likes, dislikes, etc. so you have something to talk about. Don't bring gifts all the time, you want them to like you not your bribes. Is mom still in the pic? Try not to mother them too early on. Remember that they have been dad's #1 priority and it is natural for them to powerstruggle you for his attention. Don't put dad in the middle of constant powerstruggles, at this stage you'll be outpowered. Try to find something you have in common with them (TV show, music, sport, type of movie, etc.)to help you bond.
