Don't you just love the way pregnancy can completely screw up an otherwise pretty normal digestive system! In the first trimester it is a little more difficult to deal with the constipation, you can try prunes, raisins, citrus fruits and melons. A lot of fruits along with fruit juices and a lot of water will ease things along. Once I hit my 13th week my doctor put me on Colace 2-3 times a day depending upon how "Bound up" I am that day. Colace is very mild and you can get it either by perscriptions or over the counter, but over the counter it can be a little pricey! If your insurance covers perscriptions, have your doctor write you out one it will end up costing a lot less! Avoid red meats, or anything high in iron. Also, it is best to try to avoid most dairy products as those tend to cause constipation too. Good Luck
