SUBJECT: Breaking the bedtime bottle
Where do I start. I guess to sum it up... I have created a mess! My 18 month old daughter has been going to bed with a pacifier and a bottle since she is 8 months old. I used to stand next to her crib and hold the bottle until she fell asleep and then slide out the nipple and stick in the pacifier. Now she still goes to bed with a bottle and pacifier but I just give them to her and she goes to sleep with them. It usually takes a few bottles for her to fall asleep unless she is dead tired. Not only have I messed up with that but I also have soft music and a humidifier going to drowned out any outside noise or she will wake up.
When she wakes in the middle of the night or to early in the morning she can't put her self back to sleep unless I go in with more milk.
I just don't know what to do. People say let her cry that she "will" fall back asleep but she doesn't. I have tried to go in and lay her down with just the pacifier and she just cries and cries. I know this is bad for many reasons and one being her teeth.
If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear. I really feel like I have screwed up.
She also won't touch milk in a sippy cup. She drinks juice in a sippy cup but the milk has to be a bottle. Once again I was told then she wont drink and not to give in but......I have a hard time with that.
HELP!!
