The bruising seems excessive however I don't know this child or what he did. Our school encourages spanking. In fact the principal told me to make sure I spanked only on the buttocks and no more than 3 times. This was after I voiced concern about spanking my child due to CPS. He said he'd told his own children he didn't care if he went to jail, after he got out, he'd spank them again! I was floored! I believe in spanking however I feel that it should be used as a last resort or for extreme behavior. Otherwise, if you are not afraid of the punishment, it won't do any good. Believe me I know that kids can get "immune" to a spanking because I was an ADHD child and got lots of spankings from my dad. I did listen to him better than my mom however I began to resent him for it. My mom would lecture to no end. This to me was worse than a spanking and I have more respect for my mom now than my dad. She took out time to try to explain what I was doing was wrong why, and tried to help me find a better way to deal with it. I do have mixed feelings about the situation. However, I do feel that CPS should have never been organized. Reason: Parents are held legally responsible for their childrens actions and therefore it's no one elses business other than the parents. I think the school has way too much power over our children. I don't think spanking is entirely bad as long as it is done correctly. Also, why do schools have the power to spank or discipline our children without our permission or notification (my school informed me of this) but as parents we cannot? It seems that schools and CPS have the real power here, not parents. This is just an opinion and not meant to offend anyone.
