 | I have had my 8 year old son on medication after fighting with school for 2 years. He has been on it for 9 months. I have noticed some subtle and not so subtle side effects such as tics and quick to get mad now, occasional headaches and frequent stomaches, some moodiness. My child's school doesn't seem to care they only want him medicated so they can get through the day. Never mind what I think is right for his mind physically. For those considering putting their child on medication, I want you to read this: www.add-adhd-help-center.com/adderall_side_effects.htm Now consider this, would you tell any of you children it is okay to use cocaine? No, of course not, but that is the equilvalent that they give our children for the symptoms of ADHD. There are other very disturbing facts about this medication and the are all pretty much the same. I have a friend with 3 ADHD children (she has 5 sons) and they have tried every one of them. I am in the process of taking my child off this medication. If the school can't deal with my child then I'll just homeschool him. I would rather he miss out on the school experience (which isn't what it's cracked up to be) than to mess up his mind. Did I mention my son is gifted? So I have the challenges of raising an only child, a gifted child, and an ADHD child. To other moms in similiar situations, hang in there. WE DO KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR OUR KIDS. Follow your gut instinct the first time. I wish I had. Any replies are welcome. |
