Very short period with prenancy symptoms but test was negative.

Hi everyone. New to the board :)
I'm a little confused at the moment. My periods always last about 6 - 10 days which i know is a long time. However this time my period only lasted 2 days. Light on the first, heavier on the second then it just stopped. That was five days ago. Since then i have had a slight light brown discharge and only on the toilet paper. Also my breasts have not returned to their normal size and are still big with twinges of pain. Uncomfortable to lie on too.
I have been pregnant before but sadly miscarried at around 8 weeks. The same thing happened then too. I had a light period of 3 days then it stopped. I thought at the time that perhaps my periods were just settling down finally but wondered why my breasts were getting larger by the day. My mum told me to take a test. So i did. Positive. Doctors told me i was about 8 weeks along but no sooner had i found out i started to loose it.
The strange thing is because i recognised these symptoms from before i rushed out and bought a pregnancy test but it was negative. So where the heck is my proper period? Have i perhaps taken the test to early? Should i test again next week?
I have been taking Pro natal tablets for 39 days Could they have perhaps disrupted things a bit?
I had what felt like mild period pain yesterday and the day before with feelings of nausea and was expecting my period to start again but that has now stopped. Has anyone else had a simular experience or has any ideas as to what might be going on?
