SUBJECT: Discipline for kids bigger than the parent
Hi all. My situation is this: I'm a single parent with a 14 year old girl who has the worst attitude I have ever seen in a kid. She was once a good student 2 years ago and a top player on her school volleyball program but now she has turned into an utter misfit. Staying out late, stealing from my wallet and all around bad attitude. My problem is when I go face to face with her she's 5'11 plus she has heels on and I'm 5'7. She stares me down but I do not back off. The problem is nothing I do to her works and I think she has lost respect because of our difference in height. I've tried grounding, Timeout yet She curses calls me horrible names and when I finally get her while she's laying down mouthing off I smack her bottom but she acts like she doesn't feel it so I take a belt or shoe and hit her good a few times with it and she just tenses up her butt and absorbes it stoically or takes it from me and throws it away. Then she gets up and still give me the rotten brat stuff later on. I think she is just too big for me to use physical discipline on her with any effect and I have no interest in taking down my daughters fitted pants and seeing her bare bottom. That would be sick and sadistic in my opinion. Is there anybody else in this kind of predicament and how can someone establish myself as a force in my own home such a tall arrogant kid like this??
