I understand how you feel. Both my grandchildren have done this at this age.My grandson had done this when he was about this age. He is now 6yrs old, but doesn't do this anymore. Many times I feared and have had to catch his falls from my hard wood floors not to mention my coffee table. At this age thier anger is an expression from wanting something. He is probably showing his frustrations out the way he knows how. I would pick him up and with a soft gentle voice have him point out to you or ask him what it is he wants. If he is still kicking, screaming etc... then I would try to wait it out (of course being nearby) and when he's settled down abit try asking him again what he wants. Mostly they are just frustrated and it can be a challenge but for the most part be patient! "Yes they do grow out of it!"

My 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter hasn't really done this as much. When she does throw a tantrum I give her the "Grandma look" (which means...a corner or time out) With your little one tho, you can't very well dicipline because he is still a baby and going through certain stages of developing and behavior patterns.
As for the knock-outs, I'm guessing he doesn't realize when he is that angry and falls back it hurts?? I'm sure he will grow out of it but still keep a close watch and if need be I would discuss with your pediatrician and maybe he or she can give you some better advice? Good-luck!

let me know if this helped you any. Is there a specific time when he does do this?
