SUBJECT: urinary tract infection in 4 yr. old
Hello, I live in the Bahamas where specialized medical technology has not quite reached US standards. Please help. My daughter had a UTI. It was her first & now urine cultures are clear. Our Pediatrician wants an ultrasound & a renal nuclear scan. I have read that a nuclear scan is only necessary should something abnormal be seen in the ultrasound. I hesitate because I am afraid to have my daughter injected with radioactive materials if it isn't necessary. Any opinions out there? Thank you!
