At some point your daughter will ask how you and your husband met. She'll ask about when she was a baby and about when she was born. I think that is an excellent time to explain, very matter-of-factly, the simple truth (no nasty details necessary). Your daughter's history is nothing for you or her to be ashamed of. It is okay for her to understand that you were pregnant with her when you got together with your sweetheart, he has been there since before she was born, and he loves her very much. Don't compare his relationship with the other two children as if he is their "real" dad and not hers. You will eventually need to explain that she has another father, and you don't know where he is. When she gets older, she will want more details. Be prepared to let her know more of the story when you think she is ready. Congratulations on having a terrific family!
