Hi Sandye,
I just read your message and I understand what you are going through. My son now 7 was diagnosed with aspbergers a little ocer one year ago. We have learned a great deal since then. I think it depends on the school and the school system as to how special ed kids are treated as respect to extra curruicular activities, field trips etc.
What we have discovered is that aspberger kids are by no means learning disabled for the most part. It takes a lot of patience, determination and love. We have been through the IEP process and we are fortunate to have a very good school with program especially designed for kids with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) of which Aspbergers is included.
i wish you best of luck. Remember you are not alone out there, we are rooting for you.
