First of all let me tell you ADHD is a medical condition. No one is qualified to diagnose it except a MD.

I agree with your statement, however, ADHD can't be diagnosed with a blood test or anything really definitive. As a result, many physicians just listen to the parent and prescribe meds. It is suggested that using behavior checklists, such as the BASC, overidentify students.

My suggestion is to find out if there are any medical conditions that might be contributing to inattentiveness. Kids get worms, have allergies, astigmatism, etc., that can mimic ADHD. Also, with boys, often it is the teacher, not the child. They want kids who aren't active.
