AUTHOR: not my bottle
My kids went through the same thing. Unfortunately, for us, it just took some patience. Its kind of the same process that you go through with a little baby putting them down at night and they cry. You go in and soothe them, but do not give in. If you consistently do that, it will only be a short matter of time before they realize they are not going to get that bottle any more and they give up the fight. Its not easy for that period, but it will work. You may have answered your own question, too--you could always try introducing a soft blanky as a substitution. (my sister had a blanket until highschool)
