My mother is RH -, but back when I was born they didn't have the technology that they have today and she didn't receive a shot while she was pregnant with me (I was the first born). I was born with no complications, but my mother started to reject my brother when she was pregnant with him. The doctors told my mother that another pregnancy could cause problems with her or the baby and encouraged her not to have any more. I guess what the problem is, is that the neg & pos blood factors don't mix well (or something like that). The shot they give the mother in the last trimester enables her to give birth to more babies without her body fighting them. We have a neighbor with 7 children and she is RH-, and all of her children have been RH+. From what I understand, as long as you get the shot there really isn't much chance of a problem. Good Luck
