Have fun trying. I've had my bloodwork done on the third day of my cycle, FSH, LH, Estrogen levels. This was done in January. In Feb. my husband went to have his sperm count done and his doctor laughed at him, because she doesn't think it needs to be done. He has no errectile difficulties, doesn't smoke or drink and isn't technically at risk for a low sperm count. She refused to test him until month 16 of trying. So it's not a matter of convincing him to get it done it's just a matter of convincing the doctor to test him. She did reccomend that we try every-other day and not every day, as trying every day can lower a man's sperm count.
As far as your husband I suggest trying for 6 months, and then asking him. So he doesn't get offended ask him when you're going to the doctor to get checked out to go with you and get checked too. After my husband realized my bloodwork was okay he felt like he should be tested. So, we looked online and found sperm kits. This month we're going to do it ourselves (only $60 and will hopefully bring some relief).
I was on birth control for two months in 1999 and got really sick from it, daily vomitting. So that's not an issue. But both of my grandmother's took longer to get pregnant, one 6 years and then a still birth and then 2 more years to have my mother; my other grandmother took 1.5 years.
As far as being 26 and trying to get pregnant, sure I have time, but doctors don't want to help me because of this time. But I don't want to be an older parent, and I want to have 4-6 children. So as far as time, it flys.
