| I am not currently pregnant, but plan to begin trying soon if my doctor gives the ok. I am 26 and was diagnosed with UC about 3 years ago. I found this discussion board while researching UC and pregnancy. It is so encouraging. Although your doctor tells you your meds are fine, it's nice to hear that real women have been successful.
I might be able to give you some info on the fish oil. I am currently taking Omega 3 tablets from the health food store. This is made of a combination of fish oils. Yesterday, my UC doctor said this was a wise move and should help.
I am also taking aloe vera juice - 1/2 c. per day. This has REALLY helped. I'm not sure how safe it is in pregnancy. I will ask my obgyn on Monday. If you go this route, let me caution you - only buy George's Road Runner Aloe Vera juice. It tastes like distilled water; however, other brands are very bitter and undrinkable.
One more note: I noticed that almost everyone is taking Asacol. I was too until about 1 month ago. My doctor put me on a new med. Colazal. The absorption rate is supposed to be better and it is just as safe in pregnancy as Tylenol. I have noticed improvement. I'd like to hear from anyone who has taken this med. successfully during pregnancy. I believe it's fairly new on the market.
