Ringworm is not a worm, but a fungal rash. It is usually round, ring-shaped, but can be irregular-shaped too. As it progresses, the round shape forms a ring, with the center appearing clear. It also itches and can appear scaly. You can look up more info at mayoclinic.com and see pictures. If you think you have it, go to the doctor. It is HIGHLY contagious. It is not anything to be frightened of, but it can spread very easily. Treatment is also long. Can you believe that I am taking my daughter (now 7 mo.)back to the doctor today, b/c I think it is back. It probably never left! It has been over a month and a half since she was first diagnosed! UGH!!!!! Because she is so young, I can't use medicine that is too strong. I use OTC Athlete's Foot medicine on her, but they do have prescription ointment and even oral medication for severe cases (not for babies, though). Poor thing - she has become the ringworm baby! Hope you don't have it, just b/c it is a real pain in the butt! Good luck!
