rotovirus in 10-mos old

My 10-mos old son was just released from the hospital 2 days ago diagnosed with the rotovirus. It came on suddenly with no warning whatsoever! Extreme diarrhea and vomiting. His fever went up to 104.6 and down to 102 with a dose of Advil. He was admitted for three days. He woke up with diarrhea at 3 am and by 1pm that day he was so dehyrated it took the doctors seven tries in seven different spots on his little body to get an IV in to rehydrate him!! Now he has started the vomiting again after a full day of no vomiting and the diarrhea is still with us, too. He is acting better; healthier though. I have read all I can find on this virus but I still don't understand HOW he got this! My husband came down with this also the 2nd day my son was sick but I have not gotten sick yet. I am trying to keep him hydrated with pedialyte but he is now just refusing it. He will nurse a little and take some solids though.
