SUBJECT: Confused about Pregnancy Test Results
How accurate are home pregnancy tests vs. the urine tests the doctor's offices use? I am asking because I took two home pregnancy tests (EPT) last week (Tues. & Sat.), and both were positive. However, today I went to my general phycian for a sinus/ear infection, and asked also for a pregnancy test to confirm. The doctor had me give a urine sample, and then they let me sit in the lab area while they did the test. They used a small test, very simular to the home test that I had used. The nurse doing the test kept picking it up and looking at it, and then saying "it's not done yet.." and sitting it back down. In the end the doctor came in and looked at it and said it was negative. I asked how that could be after having two positive tests, and so he agreed to go ahead and order a blood serum test. I now have to wait 4-5 days for it to come back. I guess my question is...is it possible that I could have two positive tests (the last being on Saturday), and then on Monday have a negative test? Also, I know on the home tests that I took, it said to be sure and lay the test flat and not pick it up until the time (3 mins) had completed. Could the nurse have messed up the test by continuously picking it up? I'm so confused......

Thank you,
TexasGal
