Actually, Ryan started showing his odd behaviors around age 2.(lining up things). He didn't start with the tantrums until about age 2 1/2. He is like your son in that he too has good eye contact and is very affectionate and plays well with kids. I do know that there is (or was) an additive in the MMR shot to prolong its shelf life but when my husband took Ryan to his checkup to get his MMR shot he specifically asked the doctor about it before Ryan received it and the Doc reassured him that the vaccine did not contain the additive. Hope that was the truth! As for Ryan's progress, he is doing better with his behavior since he is getting more one on one time in his preschool. Good luck to you too!
